Individual Psychotherapy

As a reputable Southern California based Teen Depression Rehab Treatment Center, Teen Depression offers private and high standard Individual Psychotherapy sessions for teenagers between the ages of 12-17 years old. Our Individual Psychotherapy sessions are delivered by a qualified mental health professional who is solely dedicated to the recovery of the client.

What happens during Individual Psychotherapy?
Essentially, Individual Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and a teenager. During a therapy session, the therapist will encourage the teenager to talk and open up about their concerns – be it about relationship problems, stress with school, conflicting emotions, or some other issue that they are struggling with. In turn, the therapist will act as a listening ear, and they provide the teen with useful strategies such as techniques to change unwanted behaviors and thoughts, lifestyle changes, and more. Individual Psychotherapy sessions are bound by patient-therapist confidentiality.

What is the goal of Individual Psychotherapy and how long does it last?
Individual Psychotherapy goals can differ on a case-by-case basis. Generally, goals include: helping the client talk through their mental health concern helping them acknowledge their problems, and helping them find a way to heal and move forward with their life. Typically, each session can last for up to 45 to 60 minutes. The duration and frequency of sessions can differ according to each client’s specific goals, needs, and progress.
